On May 17th, which is observed as the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphoba worldwide to raise awareness regarding the LGBT rights, FICCI’s Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) is organizing a Special Webinar on ‘Covid 19 and LGBTQ+ people’s rights: Where lies the gap?’.
It is slotted from 3.00 - 4.30 PM on Sunday, 17th May 2020.
For long, LGBTQ+ community has been deprived of their rights and respect from the society and the sudden health emergency has further magnified their miseries and stress. In view of this, the proposed webinar is an endeavour to get all the stakeholders, government, businesses and other relevant organisations on a common platform to discuss and recommend how can various government and organizational policy measures get more diverse, inclusive and better to address the key challenges being faced by the LGBTQ+ community in India.
The discussions will aim at deliberating upon some of the important issues mentioned below and seeking government and business perspectives on the same:
- Impact of Covid 19 on LGBTQ+ people’s rights
- Requisite policy measures already undertaken/ need to be planned in immediate, medium and long term
- LGBTQ rights and the post COVID world.
- Diverse and Inclusive Workplaces
- Role of Civil Society organizations etc
