Sector OverviewThe Indian school education system is one of the largest and most complex in the world. 54% of all 1.46 million K-12 schools in India, are managed by the Central Government/ State governments and 21% are managed by local bodies/municipal corporations. In order to facilitate estimated additional students of 300 million by 2030 through expansion and quality upgradation, the Indian K-12 sector would need up to INR 20,00,000 cr (USD 333 bn) of investment by 2030.
FICCI has been active for over a decade in the education (higher, vocational and school) space and has been the first mover from the private sector in suggesting research based policy reforms to the government. FICCI ARISE endeavours to support and strengthen these efforts in order to unify the sectors’ voice to create a meaningful impact on regulators at state and central level despite increased outlays on education.
