Mar 13, 2018

NEW DELHI, 13 March 2018FICCI welcomes the Delhi Solar Agenda announced at the ISA Founding Conference on Sunday. The agenda reiterates the commitment towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that calls for eradication of poverty in all its forms and dimensions and for transforming the world in which development and application of technology are climate-sensitive, respect biodiversity and are resilient.

The agenda also recognizes the New Urban Agenda's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability through promoting clean energy and notes that renewable energy is an important pathway to a less carbon-intensive, more efficient and more sustainable energy system.

Mr Rashesh Shah, President, FICCI, said "FICCI believes that ISA will help in achieving the overall goal of increasing solar energy deployment in the ISA member countries for achieving universal energy access and speeding up economic development.  Industry will play a pivotal role in achieving the goals & objectives of ISA by harnessing their strengths and capabilities and their ability to mobilize resources."

The International Committee of Chambers of Industry under ISA (appeared in the Joint Statement released at the Founding Conference on March 11, 2018) of which FICCI is a member, will further strengthen the private sector linkage through national business federations in ISA countries that will complement interactions among governments.
