Food irradiation is a well-established technology that involves exposing food to controlled doses of ionizing radiation to enhance food safety, extend shelf life, and reduce post-harvest losses. However, despite its recognition as a safe and effective technology, the adoption of food irradiation in India remains limited. Therefore, to address these barriers and facilitate a constructive dialogue amongst key stakeholders, FICCI is organizing a roundtable conference on ‘Irradiation of Foods’ on 26th March 2025 at Federation House, New Delhi. The conference aims to deliberate on policy framework, support government initiative on capacity expansion, encouraging industry to adopt irradiation and promote consumer acceptance of irradiated food in India.
