Overview
At a time when the safety and well-being of workers are central to sustaining inclusive growth and building resilient communities, we are pleased to share that FICCI, in collaboration with the Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health (DISH), Government of NCT of Delhi, is organizing an OSHEP 2025: Conference on Occupational Safety, Health & Emergency Preparedness in Industries, scheduled to be held on 18th July, 2025 at Federation House, FICCI, New Delhi.
India’s journey toward becoming a global economic powerhouse is marked by a surge in industrial activity across regions - ranging from construction and manufacturing to logistics and services. While this rapid development is promising, it brings with it a crucial responsibility: to safeguard the health, safety, and well-being of the millions of workers who power these sectors. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) has evolved beyond a regulatory requirement to become a strategic pillar of inclusive and sustainable growth. In urban landscapes, where unorganized and informal employment dominates, the urgency to address occupational risks and build resilient safety frameworks becomes even more pressing.
Despite the presence of regulatory safeguards and government-led initiatives, significant challenges persist. Industrial accidents, occupational illnesses, and inadequate safety infrastructure - especially at construction sites, small-scale units, and in informal workplaces - underscore the need for renewed focus and coordinated action. The upcoming conference aims to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academic experts, and civil society to assess current systems, identify critical gaps, and explore innovative, actionable strategies. It will also serve as a platform to reinforce the principles of the National Policy on Safety, Health and Environment at Workplace, promoting a culture of prevention, preparedness, and shared accountability.
