Sector header

The railway sector, previously part of the Transport Infrastructure Committee (covering Roads & Highways, Ports & Shipping, and Railways), was established as an independent Committee in 2026. The FICCI Committee on Railways brings together senior leaders from across the railway ecosystem, encompassing industry stakeholders, policymakers, government agencies, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The Committee represents a wide spectrum of domains such as manufacturing, infrastructure development, technology, operations, and sustainability, among others.

The Committee serves as a structured interface between the private sector and key government stakeholders ensuring sector-wide concerns are articulated in a cohesive and credible manner. The Committee aims to undertake the following core activities

  • Consolidate industry perspectives into actionable policy recommendations
  • Submit input and recommendations on priority issues to relevant government stakeholders
  • Facilitate consultations and roundtables to discuss sectoral challenges and potential solutions
  • Provide feedback on policy developments and project-related issues, as appropriate
  • Supports private sector participation by highlighting key contractual, regulatory, and investment-related concerns
